Hemmersbach's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets Validated as Science Based by the SBTi

Nuremberg, Germany - February 2026
Hemmersbach announces that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has officially validated its near term and long term greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets as science based. This milestone follows Hemmersbach's SBTi commitment in 2023 and confirms that the company's decarbonization pathway aligns with the latest climate science for limiting global warming to 1.5°C.

Concretely, the approved near term targets include reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030, sourcing 100% renewable electricity by 2030, and lowering Scope 3 emissions by 37.5% by 2035. The approved long term targets commit Hemmersbach to achieving a 90% reduction of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2050.

The urgency for climate action is underscored by the IPCC's warning that the world must achieve rapid emissions reductions before 2030 to keep the 1.5°C target within reach. Hemmersbach has therefore placed direct emissions reductions at the core of its climate strategy.

How Hemmersbach Reduces Its Carbon Footprint

Hemmersbach integrates sustainability across all business areas. The company is continually transitioning its Field Service fleet to electric vehicles and uses intelligent, energy optimized route planning to ensure the most efficient technician deployment. Its facilities are becoming increasingly energy efficient, including major office buildings powered by photovoltaic systems.

Through its Global Device Lifecycle Services, Hemmersbach advances circularity by refurbishing devices, reusing spare parts, and enabling circular device as a service models. Remote meetings, remote service solutions, and self service desks and IT Bars at end-customer sites further reduce travel related emissions.

Benefits for Hemmersbach Customers and Society

By pursuing validated science based targets, Hemmersbach significantly reduces the environmental footprint of its IT services and strengthens sustainability performance across its value chain. These actions support customers in achieving their own Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and climate objectives while contributing meaningfully to global decarbonization efforts.

Validated Science Based Targets

Near Term Targets

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 (base year 2024)
  • Increase renewable electricity sourcing to 100% by 2030
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 emissions by 37.5% by 2035 across key categories such as procurement, transportation, waste, business travel, and employee commuting

Long Term Targets

  • Reduce Scopes 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% by 2050
  • Reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% by 2050

Net Zero Target

  • Achieve net zero GHG emissions across the entire value chain by 2050
Achieving SBTi validation is a major milestone for Hemmersbach. It confirms that our emissions reduction targets are grounded in science and aligned with global climate goals. This recognition strengthens our resolve to accelerate decarbonization across all areas of our organization and to contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable future.
